The village is not the resort

Visitors regularly book Old Hersonissos thinking it is the seafront and arrive to find a hillside village instead. It is the better choice for many people, but it changes the practicalities: fewer shops, a walk or drive to the beach, and streets built long before cars. Deliveries are arranged accordingly - we come to the edge of the village or an agreed square rather than promising a car outside every door.

Streets, parking and the back roads

Parking in the village is a matter of knowing the few widened stretches and the small lots near the main road. Evenings around the tavernas are the busiest. The advantage of staying here is the back-road network: you can reach Piskopiano, Koutouloufari and the road towards Kastelli without ever touching the coastal traffic, which in August saves real time.
