The person behind this site
Siim-Sander
Local travel representative in Crete. Nearly six years living in Greece, four of them in Crete - every recommendation here has been driven, walked and eaten in person.
My story
I came to Greece for work and stayed. Four seasons in Crete means I know which road is actually paved, which taverna really presses its own oil, and when Balos lagoon is empty.
I work with travellers every day: meeting flights, handing over car keys, fixing things when plans change. This is not desk research - it is on-the-ground work.
Only things I am willing to put my name on end up on this site. If I don't know something, I say so.
What I know best
- Car rental in Crete - insurance, excess, and the roads you must not drive
- Excursions and day trips - which ones are worth the money and which are not
- Beaches and villages - when to go, where to park, where the crowds aren't
- Local tavernas and real prices away from the tourist strips
- Driving in Crete and family-friendly road-trip routes
How recommendations are made
- I visit the places myself, including off-season.
- Photos are my own wherever possible, not stock.
- Prices and opening times are checked before they go live.
- If a place drops in quality, the recommendation comes down.
