The first drive out of the airport
The airport exit puts you straight onto the E75 national road: west for Heraklion city, Ammoudara and Rethymno, east for Hersonissos, Malia and Agios Nikolaos. Speed limits are 90 km/h on the national road unless signed otherwise, and Greek drivers habitually use the hard shoulder to let faster traffic past - you can do the same when it is safe and clear. Do not do it near junctions.

Insurance and conditions
Every MyCrete car comes with FCDW full insurance plus WUG cover - tyres, the car's underside, glass and mirrors - at €0 excess. There is no upsell at handover, because there is no better package to sell you. We send the fuel policy, driver age rule and the full terms in writing before you confirm anything. An EU driving licence is enough. Insurance is void off-road, including the gravel track to Balos.
Before requesting your rental
Bring your original, valid physical driving licence and passport or ID card. Copies and phone photos are not accepted. Pay at handover by card, bank transfer or cash in euros; there is no deposit or prepayment.
An additional driver costs €4/day and must be named in the agreement. Child seats carry a small extra fee; include each child's age in your enquiry. Return the car with the same fuel level as at handover.
FCDW and WUG provide €0 excess for covered damage, not unlimited protection. Off-asphalt driving, an unregistered driver and driving under alcohol or drugs invalidate cover. Interior damage is covered only when caused by an accident. Reckless use and other breaches can leave you responsible for repair costs.
The airport enquiry minimum is 3 days at Heraklion and 4 days at Chania. Handover is at the agreed meeting point, not an airport desk. Send your flight number, arrival and return times so the meeting point and return instructions can be agreed before confirmation. Yes. We agree a time and a spot at the airport, including very early departures. There are no counter hours to work around.
